2009 Year Uncirculated Coin Twin Set - International Year of Astronomy

To celebrate the International Year of Astronomy in 2009, the Royal Australian Mint has released its outstanding two coin proof and uncirculated sets. The event, backed by the International Astronomical Union and UNESCO, has a theme of ‘The Universe, Yours to Discover’. Produced to complement the 2009 6 coin year sets, the twin sets make available the coins that aren’t available through the 6 coin sets. The $1 Uncirculated coin features an image of the famous radio telescope located in Parkes NSW, symbolic of Australia’s place in international astronomy.
