2009 6 Coin Uncirculated Year Set - International Year of Astronomy

The year 2009 is the International Year of Astronomy, a world-wide celebration of our exploration of the universe. It marks the 400th anniversary Galileo. Galileo’s first use of the telescope and is recognition of his revolutionary discoveries that began modern astronomy. With the theme ‘The Universe, Yours to Discover’, the International Year of Astronomy 2009 is an initiative of the International Astronomical Union and is endorsed by the United Nations and UNESCO. To mark this occasion the Royal Australian Mint has dedicated its 2009 year set to this event. A unique 20 cent coin has been developed for the 2009 6 coin uncirculated year set. The 20 cent uncirculated coin features an image of star-gazers against a star-chart backdrop, representing the many thousands of amateur astronomers in Australia. All 6 coin uncirculated year set will come with a free ‘glow in the dark’ post card.
