Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1987 and 1994 and is located 460 kilometres southwest of Alice Springs.  The park covers 2,010 square kilometres and includes many Aboriginal sacred sites, including Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and Uluru (Ayers Rock), one of the world’s largest monoliths.

The Lord Howe Island Group was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1982 and is located 700 kilometres northeast of Sydney.  The Lord Howe Island Group comprises Lord Howe Island, Admiralty Islands, Mutton Bird Island, Ball's Pyramid, Blackburn Island and associated coral reefs and marine environments. 

The Willandra Lakes Region was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1981 and is located in the Murray Basin area of south western New South Wales.  The region extends over an extensive area that contains a system of ancient lakes formed over two million years, most of which are fringed by crescent shaped dunes.  The region is recognised for its geological importance and its record of Aboriginal settlement dating back 40,000 years.

Fraser Island was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1992 and is located along the southern coast of Queensland.  The island has rain forests, eucalyptus woodland, mangrove forests, wallum swamps, sand dunes and coastal heaths.

Kakadu National Park has received two World Heritage List entries, being fully inscribed in 1992.  The park is situated in the Northern Territory, 171 km southeast of the Darwin and covers an area of approximately 20,000 square kilometres.  The site is renowned for its extraordinary wetlands and ancient cultural traditions.
